The importance of culture in organisations and communities is increasingly being realised. The levers for creating and maintaining cultures in which people thrive, however, are not usually well understood.

At The Kalmor Institute we have decades of experience working with community groups, educational communities, sporting groups, religion, political groups, charities, and others on creating and embedding cultures that reflect the aspirations of leaders and members. This may involve clarification of core purpose, core values and a vision for the future and always involves the engagement of people in ways that build ownership and passion.

Consulting and advisory.

We assist organisations such as schools, religious groups, political organisations, sporting groups, charities, and other communities to:

  • Commence dialogue with stakeholders to identify cultural gaps and aspirations.

  • Undertake research to identify barriers to cultural health (cultural audits).

  • Clearly identify what the community stands for including the creation or reinvigoration of core purpose and core values.

  • Build commitment to the aspirational culture through the engagement of people in ways that build ownership and passion.

  • Build pragmatic elements into the core values such as getting groups to identify specific behaviours that reflect the values.

  • Anchor the culture in symbols, practices, policies, and processes.

  • Establish cultural monitoring systems to ensure aspirational cultures are retained.

  • Identify or reinvigorate an aspirational vision and goals that will serve as drivers for action within the community.

  • Identify and address barriers to the creation of an aspirational culture, including past negative experiences and events.


Training and education.

The most important way we support communities in the culture area is through our consulting and advisory work.

We also offer training and education programs for leaders, influencers, and people who would like to be enablers of change in their communities. These programs help build knowledge, confidence, and skills in driving change and creating positive cultures. We use both electronic and in-person delivery processes.

It assists women to fully identify their career aspirations and core strengths. It highlights potential career pitfalls and provides strategies and techniques for ensuring career resilience.

Coaching and on-on-one work.

We offer one-on-one coaching for leaders, managers and others who might benefit from support, additional insights and/or a sounding board in addressing issues of change and the creation of healthy, thriving, cultures.
Coaching and one-on-one work is provided in person, by phone and/or by on-line platform. Our coaching programs are packaged in 4 session packages.

Presentations and speaking engagements.

We offer fabulous 1 and 2 hour presentations for large groups. Presentations are tailored for each organisation. They are designed to be highly engaging as well as informative and cover a range of topics associated with creating aspirational cultures and addressing blockers to great cultures.
